Kickstart Thursdays
Here’s a little motivation for your Thursday.
You’ve made it past hump day, and it’s not quite TGIF, so make the most of Kick Start Thursdays.
What do you want to accomplish this weekend?
What would help you to progress on your art?
Try this:
See your end goal. What are you working toward? What does the thing look like? How does it sound? Taste? Smell?
Creativity takes many forms, but without a clear picture of the end product, you won’t know when you’re approaching the end.
Sketch out that thing, that end goal. Yes, I’m talking about a real sketch. No one’s judging you. No one’s going to see this but you. Put down a couple lines that represent what you’re working toward.
Tape that sketch to your mirror, or your dashboard, or your laptop. Keep it handy and in sight.
Now, write a list of ten steps that will get you closer to that goal.
For me, it’s publishing my book ‘Do Your Art.’
[Insert sketch here!] Okay, so I used it as my lead photo.
My ten steps are:
1. Keep writing
2. Three more chapters
3. Edit- large revisions
4. Buy ISBN for four versions- eBook, paperback, hardcover, and audio book
5. Design cover
6. Format interior
7. Edit- proofread
8. Publish
9. Promote
10. Celebrate
What can I do this weekend?
Write chapter eight.
I write pretty fast. My goal is for each chapter to be about 5,000 words. Ten chapters total.
What is your goal?
Use today, Kickstart Thursday, to give yourself a plan before the weekend catches you off guard.
Be accountable.
Let’s check in again NEXT Thursday, okay?
I’m here for you.
Be well,
Bernadette
